    Tire Age

I feel victim this summer, too!  We got our '97 Coachmen Catalina just last year, and the tires did look very good.  Since I had driven the old Tioga class C from Texas to New York twice in three years, the last time being after owning the RV for eight years, I didn't check the tires on the...

    Need help

Millie, I recommend taking the thing to a plumbing supply store.  the big box places only carry the most commonly used stuff, and RV parts aren't common enough.  Check the yellow pages for plumbing supply and I bet you'll find one. Carl

    1994 Coachmen Destiny

My 1997 Coachmen Catalina has the shower going to the grey tank.  The grey tank in this thing can't be too big, with mine, the shower basin started filling up the first full day I was hooked up.  You need to hook up the sewer drain and open the small blade valve to drain the grey tank.  Carl

    1988 Tioga. Need advice

Eodvic, I bought an '89 Tioga arrow in 2002 with 6,700 miles on it. I traded it in last year with just over 13,000.  It was my first RV and there was a bit of a learning curve. Leaks, many!  If you have the front window in the bunk over the cab, check all around for any sign of leaks.  If you...

    An Exciting Day...Not!

All these stories about tire replacement are scaring me!  Now can it be so hard for a tire-shop person (whom you would think has experience in this) to look at a tire, write the size down, and order replacements?  I guess so!  It makes sense to keep an eye on your tires' condition and order well...

Anyone Have to Replace 3rd Brake light on RV?

The lights on my RV came from Monarch, which I can't find any source for online.  The piece I need, CRV #462622 -NLA from the Coachmen catalog.  I haven't had any luck with contacting Coachmen and went to several online and brick and mortar places.  I think I'll check out that one that Dick...

Anyone Have to Replace 3rd Brake light on RV?

Right now my 1997 Coachmen Catalina passes inspection, but I've always felt the Texas State inspection was the BARE minimum.  The problem is the 3rd brake light cover isn't really red anymore; it's more of a yellowish-orange and it bothers me.  I've tried several places for just the lense, and...

One headlight is dim on drivers side.

Also, on a vehicle that old, the lights themselves can go bad that way.  Try swapping from drivers to passengers side and see if the problem follows the switch.  If your passenger side lights get dim, it's the bulbs.  Otherwise, check your connectors for corrosion or bad contacts. Carl

Christmas Lights Etiquette - Is there such a thing?

We took our old class C to downtown Austin and parked near Zilker park for the Trail of Lights a few times.  I would take a bunch of lights and run them all over the RV and had a small fake tree that we put up on the dash.  The park didn't say anything, and being ten feet from the sidewalk where...

    Need Help, Serious Subject Drifting

Now, did ANYONE think this was going to somehow tie into street drifting when they read the title?  I know London double-decker bus drivers are taught to control those things if they slide, but drifting an RV? It's so EASY to start a new topic, and going way off topic is thread highjacking...

    The cost to fix it...

This kind of thread could be very useful, ie, new door handle - ebay, $83, less than 30 minutes to self install.  I would hope that people can refrain from comments,"What, you paid $200 for a new tire!?! You were robbed!"  DonBabin, I would strongly suspect a lead somewhere in the system...

Lucked out on Saturday, RV break in.

As I said, I was luckier than most.  Whomever it was went in and checked the TV and left.  I was able to lay down the cover and duct tape it from both sides.  it should hold for a while until we can get a new cover.  Fortunately, that was something I saw a need for already. As for the door...

Lucked out on Saturday, RV break in.

So I keep my Coachmen Catalina stored at the resort near Canyon Lake, Texas.  Saturday afternoon we get a disturbing call that someone broke into our RV.  We had to push other plans aside to run down there see what the damage was.  Someone had taken a knife to the cover so they could get to the...

My RV just got evicted off my property

When I bought my current home the bylaws stated one week before and after any vacation.  I had my class C in my drive for a weekend before a trip and got a certified nasty letter from the HOA.  They said the rule is 24 hours before or after a trip.  They were concerned that RV's would lower...

    Coleman rooftop A/C filter

I had just about the same Coleman in my old class C.  I found some filter material and cut new ones myself.  The trick is to cut it a little big, maybe 3/8 inch at the very most, and be careful to get it set right when putting it back in.  I never did find anything resembling actual sized...
