    Considering a New Denali 298RK

This is a TT, not a 5er.  Gross wt is in the 9200# range and hitch wt is around 900#.  My 1500 is rated at 9900# and 1450 hitch.  With the Hensley I don't see a major problem.  I also know that we never, ever travel at Gross.  Max water is about 10 gal, max food is around 200#, clothing/misc...

    Considering a New Denali 298RK

After three years, 5 two week vacations and three 6 month plus assignments, we have decided that our little Onyx 25RB is a little on the small size, now.  Good little rig for one for long term living and too tight for two and a dog for more than two weeks at a time. Si, we are seriously...

Looking for used 24 or 25 ft. fifth wheel

R-Vision is susposed to be coming out with a new 5th wheel.  Looks pretty nice and should be fairly affordable. http://www.trail-lite.com/onyx5.asp

    replaced dash mount TV

It looks like the mount may be a little wide.  With a narrower mount you could have used a smaller backing plate, depending on stud locations.  Otherwise, either paint it or get some nice upholstery fabric and cover it.  Yes, you might be able to build in a small shelf.  But, would it...

    Another Stupid Plumbing Question

My question is why did they crack in the first place?  I noticed that the tub in our Onyx flexes quite a bit when i stand in the shower.  I'm thinking that, over time, this may result in fatigue cracking tot he pan material.  I had something similar occur in my last house.  In that instance...

Gas vs Diesel for towing vehicle

Well,  we purchased out trailer based on the theoretical towing capability of my old truck, a 2011 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner with the V-6 and an auto.  Bought the lightest 25 footer we could find with the amenities we wanted.  Thhe Onyx is abut 4,400 lb empty and can grodd out at around 6,000#. ...

    Stupid Carpentry Question

Cody, I've got two words for you...Dremel Multi-Max and Saw-Max.  I've use the multi-max several times to get into tight spaces and remove plywood and/or drywall.  It cuts well and is much easier to control than any skill or saber saw.  John

Need help finding an owners manual

Rod, We purchased a 2011 Onyx by R-Vision in November.  It came with an "owners manual" of sorts.  It is general to most R-Vision trailers and to the Onyx in particular.  You might be able to purchase one from R-Vision directly.  You will then need to ID the make/model of the appliances and go...

Small travel trailer or a teardrop?

Just saw your post and thought I'd chime in here.  We have an '06 Forrester also.  Take a close look atthe weight of any of the teardrops or hard sides.  We had a little "pop-up" that we pulled behind both the Subary and our motorcycle.  It is called a BF Specalties Bunkhouse SE.  It is a...

    Emergency Road Side Service???

Has anyone ever used AAA RV service?  I've carried it while riding my motorcycle for several years.  It paid off a couple of years ago when I had a blow out on the camper trailer I was pulling behind the bike.  They hauled the trailer 60 miles into Bozeman WallyWorld.

Oilchanges.... something to think about or discuss.

I walked away from 3K oil changes 15 to 20 years ago.  Started using synthetics in my vehicles wayback when and haven't looked back since.  I've never had an engine failure due to oil problems.  This includes both my autos, trucks and my motorcycles.  I did do SOAP analysis on all of my vehicles...

    Winterizing

I should immagine that a little tire inflator would not have sufficent volume to dry the lines.  The can build up plenty of pressure, but don't have the volume capacity.  They take forever to inflate a flat tire.  Can't immagine how long it would take to dry out a wet water line.

Hitch came in handy on the freeway

Got a rental?  If not, submit that as part of the claim.  Progressive should also reimburse for the rental costs.  Their rates are about $35/day.  We went through that with Gieco last summer because of the hail damage to both vehicles.

National Ban on Text and Voice while Driving

I totally agree with you.  Humans depend on much more than just the voice for interpersonal communications.  Facial expression, hands, body posture and the nuances of voice inflection just don't come through over the phone.  Therefore, when using a cell phone vs next to us, we focus much more on...

Hitch came in handy on the freeway

I think it is time to get a lawyer involved.  If Progressive balks at anything, then you need representation.
